In the start the medical applications and softwares were designed to provide financial assistance to the medical professional but gradually with the improvements in those softwares and application recording the complete patients’ information feature was also introduced. Now today, these applications and softwares are called EMR software to store the electronic medical records of the patients. Before they were named as EMR systems, they were responsible of recording transactions and such basic functions were performed by some applications for the medical practices. Other than the clinics and the medical practice institutions, the computers and various applications in many organizations and institutes were also used for such basic transactions or functions only.
As the technology grew and got advance and more advance, humans started thinking of improvising everything around even the business process and procedures also. In the same way, the old computers and applications were transformed into new ones and to make the devices and application more convenient they were also transformed into betters apps and devices. Similarly, this generated the concept of EMR i.e. electronic medical record so that it will hold the complete information about the patients and will assist a lot in diagnosis and treatment with saving a lot of time through different ways. The EMR systems were also developed and improved taking a lot of time to make it what it is today.
Today the EMR applications and software have everything a doctor may need to run his practice in the most convenient manner without putting much effort. The EMR remains safe, secure, helpful, suggesting, storing and keeping the complete patients’ information system to get as many benefits as the physician can. On the other hand, the paper files and records are not at all reliable, secure and efficient to search for. They can be lost, misplaced and damaged a thousand times more than the EMR because they have the capability to keep the backup in case of the emergency, the backup records can be used when needed. With an integrated EMR system, you can share, manage, collect, and protect medical information more proficiently than with a paper records system. EMR systems allow data to be directly and immediately entered into the network. This saves time, reduces transcription costs, and creates a higher document quality.
