Improving clinical services with EMR

EMR stands for electronic medical record of the patient which is stored and maintained in a large patient database to retrieve the patient records anytime needed. Doctors today are fond of the EMR and EHR because they provide very convenient solution with paper free environment to maintain the patient records. EMR is managed, maintained and stored electronically on computers so that the patient records are searched and retrieved in microseconds to know the history of the patients. The history of the patient stored as an EMR of the patient contains the information which is needed necessarily to treat the patient. The EMR system contains physician’s panel which is designed for the physicians which is used by them to enter patient information, his suggestions or recommendations, symptoms, medicines referred to the patients, gradual improvements in the patient conditions after the medicine. Moreover, each and every single detail of the patient is maintained and stored in the EMR such as the test reports in a brief version. Everything in the EMR can be printed for paper references also.
Imagine if you have to perform all the functions of the EMR in a paper based environment you will have to manage patient reports, write the patients’ conditions manually, manual notes will have to be written, manual medical transcriptions, medicine records and maintaining the record of the improvement in patient conditions on papers. It will make you to manage a large paper file having hundreds of papers inside which will take a couple of hours to study if the patient is visiting you after a long time.
The doctors who had been using the paper based medical records in the past will be familiar with hassle and stress of maintaining and handling paper based records. In EMR systems there are just a matter of a few clicks to retrieve any specific patient information you want. All these conveniences save the doctors a lot of time and they can see hundreds of patients using that time. In this way, the patients are able to receive targeted, specific and improved medical services by the doctors.
